The Process

How it works:

Step 1A

Pre-launch

As a preliminary step, our team administers the TGACP Assessment matrix to determine "fit".

See the matrix here.

Step 1B

Formalization

Upon determining "fit", a formal agreement is executed and a collective kick-off convening is held!
TGACP city subscribes to ASA and enters a data-sharing agreement.
AG and the TGACP city identify a research entity as a partner to capture and study the impacts of the TGACP. This is often used as an ongoing fund development and narrative-building pathway.

Step 2

GAC Assessment process begins

Some activities include:

Research

Baseline analysis
Philanthropic landscape analysis
Hyperlocal ecosystem investigation regarding the impact of the 5GD
Client SWOT

Step 3

GAC
Planning and Development Process Begins

Facilitated Process

Vision casting and gap analysis
Convene a local cross-sector governance council AND a network, expert, resource, and advocacy (NERA) collective
Scheduling of process
Data sharing agreement among council members

Branding & Marketing

Profile development of local governance council “champions”
Project branding and communication strategy

Step 4

Plan Crystallization, Pricing, and Social Impact

Finalization of plan: 10-15 year horizon; client’s jurisdiction is divided by zones (e.g. Opportunity Zone and/or community neighborhood) to ensure hyper-individualized plans
Master pricing plan (cost plan): estimation for all projects
Implementation plan
Cycle of continuous improvement and monitoring schedule

Step 5

Fund Development & Structuring

We work with fundraising professionals to support the financing and proper filing of philanthropic funds. Our Chartered Advisor of Philanthropy (CAP) and Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) are national and international leaders in the industry. This process is highly technical (e.g. SCC filing, legal, terms of use, types of eligible funding, philanthropic relations, etc.).
As a reminder, this fund development service is provided at no cost to the Cohort Cities. These professionals are compensated by the donors—they align donors’ philanthropic portfolios to opportunities consistent with their social impact goals.

Step 6

Implementation and Ongoing Monitoring

Before the close of the facilitated process of The Global American Cities Project (TGACP), we install an implementation, ongoing monitoring, and performance system into ASA. This is critical and anchoring for the client. This method allows us to provide ongoing support on the path to goal achievement—the challenges and threats to the locale demonstrate an ebb and flow to the governance stakeholders. While our team is always available, we aim to build the independent navigational capacity of our clients.

Step 7

Ongoing Support

We are always a call away! We are incomparably committed to supporting the stability and resilience of cities. While we build our clients’ capacity and co-design a pathway, we love being of service and are equally committed to the mission. Thus, we are always available to facilitate or participate in a cycle of improvement.
