Bio
Commissioner Roderick Miles, Jr. is a lifelong Fort Worth resident and dedicated public servant, elected in November 2024 as Tarrant County Commissioner for Precinct One. He is driven by a deep commitment to equity, service, and impactful policy.
A graduate of O.D. Wyatt High School, Roderick earned a B.A. in Psychology from Philander Smith College, where he held leadership roles in student government and the UNCF Pre-Alumni Council. He also pursued a Master of Divinity at St. Paul School of Theology.
Roderick spent 10 years with Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star, increasing African American male volunteer participation by 75% and raising over $90,000 through the Greek Bowl for Kids’ Sake. He built lasting partnerships across North Texas to support youth and families.
As former Executive Administrator of Programs and Outreach for Commissioner Roy Charles Brooks, he led initiatives addressing health disparities, human trafficking, and food insecurity. He also founded the Grow Southeast Urban Farm Initiative and launched The Mindful Market at Texas Wesleyan University.
Roderick is a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and actively serves with Renaissance Heights Foundation and COACT NTX. He lives in Fort Worth with his wife, Cassandra, and their two daughters, Danielle and Gabrielle.
